Qualifications:

Carbon County resident

Graduating high school senior accepted to an accredited university, college or school

Minimum 3.5 QPA (out of 4)

Pursuing a degree in any visual art

Visual arts include mediums such as drawing, painting, photography, sculpting, calligraphy, metal working, weaving (not included are mediums such as video, performance art, dance, theater, poetry, writing)

Gather the following information:

Submit JPG images of 3-5 pieces of artwork

Short essay, “Why I want to be an artist.”

Deadline for submission is by April 1st
You can submit your application using the form below, or by email all information requested to info@carboncountyart.com. If you need assistance completing this form, please email the CCAL James Emert at 570-460-3314.
Receipt of completed applications will be confirmed by both email and traditional mail. The award will be presented at the May CCAL meeting (second Wednesday of the Month). We will display the scholarship recipient's name and artwork online, including at least one of the pieces submitted in the application.

Evaluation:
Selection will be based on academic standing and artistic ability. Total of 100 points:

Timeline:

April 1st - Deadline for student submissions.

First week of May – The scholarship recipient will be chosen and notified.

May meeting - Presentation of award and display of student art

“Visual arts” will be interpreted liberally: drawing, painting and photography, sculpting, calligraphy, metal working and weaving. Not included are performing arts such as video, acting, music and pantomime?

Notifications are only distributed to public schools, but applications are not limited to those schools.
